If you have ever wondered about keeping bees or just wanted to learn about ways to get involved, join us for Intro to Beekeeping. We will go over the costs, logistics and initial knowledge needed to start your own hives, as well as the basics of honey bee biology and behavior. The class will focus on urban beekeeping but most information will easily crossover for suburban or rural beekeeping as well.
This class is a brief overview and primer for our full Beginner's Beekeeping Course that begins on March 15th, 2020. A great way to put your toe in the water before committing to the full course.
This class will be in the Meeting Room at Bohemian Hall. All are welcome to purchase a beverage to enjoy from the bar during the class.
**Discounts are not available for classes.
Is there a minimum age requirement to attend?
No. This class is recommended for ages 13+, however, children are welcome as long as they do not disturb the other attendees. Please note that kids' ticket pricing is not available. All tickets are general admission.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
By Car: Look for street parking in the vicinity of Bohemian Hall (24th Ave and 31st St in Astoria). We recommend using public transportation if possible.
By subway, take the N/W line to Queens and get off at Astoria Blvd Station. This is the 2nd-to-last stop on this line. Walk north along 31st St to 24th Ave and make a left. Bohemian Hall is on the north side of the avenue between 31st St and 29th St.
By bus, take the M60 to the Astoria Blvd stop. Walk north along 31st St to 24th Ave and make a left. Bohemian Hall is on the north side of the avenue between 31st St and 29th St.
Why are some dates "tentative"?
This just means that the class date, time, and/or location may be adjusted. Once we have confirmed information, the date will no longer say "tentative". All classes will take place in Astoria or Long Island City unless otherwise noted. If you purchase a tentative ticket and we end up adjusting the date or time, you are entitled to a full refund if you cannot make it. We will not offer refunds based on a change in location. Please make sure you're able to travel to any location in Astoria or Long Island City before purchasing a ticket.
What do I need to bring to the event?
You're welcome to bring a notebook and writing utensil, however, we will provide an informational handout with the bullet points we cover in class.
How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
You can always drop us a line at email@example.com with any questions. We'd love to talk with you.
What's the refund policy?
Refunds are not available for this class. Please look over the description and contact us with any questions or concerns before you purchase your ticket. Don't take too long though, we expect this class to sell out.
If you purchase a ticket and cannot make it, you may transfer the ticket to another person. Please contact us with their information at least 24 hours before the class. Transfers will not be honored on the day of the event.
