Monger's Palate & Astor Apiaries - Cheese & Honey Pairings
This is a guest post by Carol Johnson
Hi, I'm Carol, the owner of Monger's Palate, a neighborhood cheese shop in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. We sell a thoughtful line-up of American and European cheese, charcuterie, and groceries. Our first focus is on being great cheesemongers for the community. We always try to have enjoyable, educational, and non-intimidating conversations about cheese and find the right match for everyone's needs be it simple or complicated. Working in the food industry for the last 15 years has made me appreciate having my own relaxed space where I can communicate what I care about, selling excellent cheese from small creameries, and sharing delicious food with others.
I'm excited to share a few of my favorite cheese & honey pairings with you!
Roquefort and Blueberry Blossom Honey
The Gabriel Coulet Roquefort is a pungent, salty, and stone fruity sheep's milk blue from Roquefort Sur Soulzon, France. It's rich and peppery profile makes it the perfect foil for the delicate berry blossom flavors of the Blueberry Blossom Raw Honey.
Garrotxa and Wildflower Raw Honey
Pliant and mineral, Murciana goat's milk cheese, Garrotxa, comes from producer Josep in Sant Gil D'Albio, Catalonia, Spain. It balances well with the more floral and earthy Wildflower Raw Honey.
Currently Monger's Palate is open 11am-7pm Tues-Sun for walk-in or pickup needs (one person/group at a time please) and online pickup or delivery orders can be placed through Mercato.
